The Samoa Cookhouse

Just minutes from Eureka, California, the Samoa Cookhouse, the last surviving cookhouse in the West, continues the tradition of serving lots of good food - lumber camp style!

Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner - you'll never leave hungry!

Breakfast, served family style, can include eggs, french toast, pancakes, sausages, biscuits & gravy, hash browns, coffee and orange juice. Lunch and Dinner, served family style, include entrée, soup, salad, bread, vegetable, potato, coffee, tea and dessert.

After a hearty meal, take a step back in time - visit the Historic Logging Museum and gift shop full of relics and photographs from the old logging and Cookhouse days.

There are both official and unofficial camping spots along the peninsula, Just across the street at the Manila Services District Park, there are tent and RV campsites available and, there are plenty of places to pitch a tent just a few minutes west along the beach.

The Pacific Ocean offers great fishing, year round, and is only a 4 minute walk from Lighthouse Plaza so, grab some beer and food from our store and hit the beach for some angling. Please consult the California Dept. of Fish and Wildlife or the nearest sporting goods store for local seasons and regulations.

One of the best kept secrets on the north coast is our many, prime surfing locations. Although the Samoa Peninsula is generally considered a good place for more experienced surfers, the Great White Sharks in our coastal waters do not discriminate and are happy to eat surfers of all skill levels.

The north coast is home to a variety of bird species and is a favorite vacation spot for many others so, grab your binoculars and head out to the dunes for a relaxing day with the birds. You can also contact the Redwood Region Audubon Society for local tours and/or group activities.

Just a mile and a half down the road is Redwood Gun Club so, if shooting is your pleasure, you have a safe and fun place to squeeze off a few rounds.

Manila Bay Disc Golf Course is a 9 hole course and is just minutes away from Lighthouse Plaza, it offers a few challenging holes, excellent views across the bay and lots of wildlife.
